The building is on a triangular site, which emphases the go-faster qualities of the streamlining: the strong horizontal barred steel windows, thin concrete cantilevered hoods and lengths of glass shopfront. Chrome, black vitrolite, maize & green terrazzo, glass bricks. Inside, Hupmobiles were on display. Pics of them in my gallery www.flickr.com/photos/48610825@N05/galleries/721576240172…

Image by Stewart Harris
I was dismayed to see a DEMOLITION sign in the window of the classic Farber Motor Showrooms. Designed in 1935 by the architects Roberts & Small, it is one of the few full-on Modern Movement buildings in Cape Town.

Later: It appears the building is not to be demolished completely, rather absorbed into a new development. I asked what it was like. My informant said, "You don’t want to know".

Hotel Ca’ Sagredo – Grand Canal – Rialto – Venice Italy Venezia – Creative Commons by gnuckx
<img alt=""antique furniture"" src="http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4013/4710737967_c7570db67e.jpg" width="400"/>

Hotel Ca’ Sagredo in Venice is a masterpiece in itself! Set in an elegant, 15th century palace overlooking the Grand Canal, it features antique furnitures and original works of art in all rooms. From the most important Venetian painters of the 17th and 18th century: Nicolò Bambini, Giambattista Tiepolo, Sebastiano Ricci, Pietro Longhi, amongst many others. This wonderfull 5 star hotel in Venice is near the Rialto Bridge. Its original architecture and impressive collection of art make this hotel really special. If you dream of Venice you will dream of Ca’ Sagredo: romantic, mysterious, unforgettable. A Private Palazzo, a Noble Residence, a Museum, a Luxury Hotel and much more… this all is Ca’ Sagredo.

The water streets of Venice are canals which are navigated by gondolas and other small boats. During daylight hours the canals, bridges, and streets of Venice are full of tourists eager to experience the romance of this great travel destination. As night engulfs the town, tourists enjoy some fine dining at one of the many restaurants, leaving the waterways and streets quiet.

The gondola is a traditional, flat-bottomed Venetian rowing boat, well suited to the conditions of the Venetian Lagoon. For centuries gondolas were once the chief means of transportation and most common watercraft within Venice. In modern times the iconic boats still have a role in public transport in the city, serving as ferries over the Grand Canal. They are also used in special regattas (rowing races) held amongst gondoliers. Their main role, however, is to carry tourists on rides throughout the canals. Gondolas are hand made using 8 different types of wood (fir, oak, cherry, walnut, elm, mahogany, larch and lime) and are composed of 280 pieces. The oars are made of beech wood. The left side of the gondola is longer than the right side. This asymmetry causes the gondola to resist the tendency to turn toward the left at the forward stroke.

Question by thebuffettour: I only got to see half of the movie “Unthinkable”, can anyone tell me what happens?
My wife works at a video store so we get to see the new releases before they are out to rent. She brought home “Unthinkable” yesterday and I tried watching it this morning before she had to return it. I got to the point where the FBI agent went to the site of the first “bomb” after being told it was a hoax by the prisoner. How did the movie end?

Best answer:

Answer by Melissa
The movie ends with Samuel L. Jackson bringing the terrorist’s kids in, and pretending he is going to hurt them. (Right before this he came in with his wife and slit her throat right in front of him.) He then reveals the locations of the bombs, and they all checked out. Samuel is convinced there is a fourth bomb he is not telling them about, since it would make sense with the amount of chemicals that were stolen. The terrorist is then able to break lose and then shoots himself before they find any truth to it. The bombs are all located and shut down, and everything seems okay. But then they show a hidden bomb at one of the location sites, and it shows the countdown to zero than the credits roll.
